If Only (Sam Winchester X Reader)

“NO!” Sam shouted, his voice cracking.

He couldn’t lose you. He just couldn’t.

He watched as your body was devoured by flames and his skin burned where your blood had dripped onto it. His vision blurred, and-

“Sam?” You mumbled, peering over at his sleeping, whimpering form.

You crawled over to him, shaking his shoulders to wake him up as he continued to thrash around.

“y-y/n__?” Sam asked, hands flying to your face, fingers skimming across your cheeks, making sure that you were really, truly alive.

“It’s okay, it’s okay.” You murmured softly, stroking his hair soothingly.

Sam relaxed slightly, burrowing back under the covers as his arm wrapped around your waist, pulling your body closer to his.

“Do you want to talk about it?” You questioned, peering up at him curiously. Sam’s heart clenched painfully just thinking about it, and he shook his head, willing the painful images out of his mind.

“Then try to go back to bed, okay Sammy?” You whispered, nestling your head against his chest.

“It’s Sam.” Sam whined sleepily, nuzzling his nose into your neck.

“Whatever.” You teased, sleep already tugging at the corners of your mind.

“I love you.” Sam said quietly, knowing that, tired as he was, his nightmares would wake him up again.

“I love you too.” You responded, leaning up and pressing a sweet kiss to his lips before cuddling back into his chest, falling back asleep quickly.

If only Sam had decided to tell you the truth, he could have avoided making his dream a reality.
